I feel like a lot of my favorites are a bit outdated. Their dad specified that the books be in English but I'm not sure how well they read in English (they speak English very well).

stupid meme.

A: What accessories do you wear everyday?
Wedding ring

B: What is your beauty routine?
I don't have a true beauty routine. I used to...but then the stuff that I used ran out or was discontinued. Working on that...since it's winter and my skin will be dry.

I moisturize with Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace since I'm not sensitive to it. I have an obnoxiously sensitive sense of smell.

C: What was the last item of clothing (for yourself) that you purchased?
a white t-shirt secondhand from papaya prints (a japenese print). it's very thin and i love it.

D: Do you use a dresser, closet, or both?
closet kind of. i am disorganized, it makes me sad. my clothes are everywhere. it looks like a yard sale vomited.

E: What type of earrings are in your ears right now?
none. earrings normally make me itchy.

F: What type of figure do you have (measurements)?
curvy.

G: Do you wear glasses?
Yes.

H: What type of handbag do you carry?
a red utilitairan bag made out of cordouroy. it's not pretty but i guess it's cute. i need a new to me one.

I: What is your ideal style?
comfortable and quirky. quirky, in a good way. not sure i have accomplished that, lately, i'm pretty dorky.

J: What is your favorite brand of jeans?
ones that fit

K: Do you wear knee-hi stockings?
yes. lots in the winter especially.

L: Do you *have* to wear matching lingerie?
i can probably count on two hands how often i have cared about that.

M: Do you wear makeup?
Yes. not to work unless i am doing an event so i don't look "sleepy" which i am frequently told if I don't wear eye makeup. mostly because i am lazy in the mornings.

N: Do you wear nightgowns?
Not really

O: What outerwear do you put on when going out on a typical winters day?
a hooded sweatshirt, leggings, thermal shirt, regular shirt (long sleeves), gloves, hat (with hood over it) and a coat. oh, and snow boots with my pants tucked in. Minnesota is cold. it irks me when i see girls hopping on the bus in heels and no leggings. they don't look fashionable, they look vain.

P: What is your favorite perfume?
Vanilla (same reason as the lotion).

Q: Is your motto "quality over quantity" when it comes to clothing and accessories?
Yes, it is becoming so. It didn't used to be. I'm sick of my clothes falling apart.

R: Do you wear rain boots?
No, but I do want cute wellies. I wear snow boots to commute, though.

S: Do you wear socks or slippers when your feet get cold?
No, but i want some

T: Do you have a set of travel luggage?
nope

U: What is your daily uniform?
clothes

V: If you are married, did you wear a veil with your wedding dress? If not, how did you do your hair?
No veil. i wore my hair back in a pony tail with my bangs to the side. what a weird question. it's how i wore my hair all summer it seems. i'm not used to having much hair.

W: Do you wear a watch?
no

X: What item of clothing always makes you feel beautiful?
a cute black dress.

Y: What is your favorite type of yarn?
soft

Z: Do you prefer zippers or buttons?
buttons are easier to fix.

this meme makes me look deceptively low maintenance, which really isn't the case at all.

Last night on my way home, as I often do, I became disoriented about which direction I was supposed to be going. I lack sense of direction and no matter how hard I try I never seem to be able to navigate if I venture off my known paths of this city. Completely disoriented and befuddled I wondered around bits of a neighborhood determined to figure out which way to go to get home on my own. I could have called a number of people for directions or even for a ride but wanted to walk alone to clear my head. The neighborhod reminded me of my birthplace and the neighborhoods that I grew up in. Throughout my wandering I kept hearing the same voice being projected from what I assumed was a park or a bar. I wondered why they would be hosting something outdoors on a chilly October night in Minnesota. It sounded like the same quality of sound that the movies in the park have. No matter what block I turned down, I could hear it but couldn’t discern the words or the speaker. Having misplaced my glasses it was even more of a challenge to navigate because the street signs were blurs and not well lit. Eventually, I found a dark park with no one in it and decided that the voice was probably being amplified from a different location.

I continued towards the voice thinking I could at least ask someone for the general direction of Snelling Avenue (a main road in Saint Paul) to get home. Minnesotans are generally helpful but I felt more comfortable asking someone at a gathering rather than a stranger on a dark street for directions. At this point I had ventured far enough from the main road that I couldn't place which direction I needed to go in to find it. Since I live on Snelling I knew that it would just be a matter of getting on the bus once I found it. When I first moved here it made me laugh out loud to say the street name aloud because it sounded silly. Not in the way that 'Lois Lane' or 'That Road' in Bloomington, IND makes me laugh but because it sounded like a made up word. As I walked I continued to hear the voice in whatever direction I went. After about 20 minutes I realized that the voice was not directing me to people at all and it didn’t seem to be coming from a central location, it seemed everywhere and I wondered briefly if I was going insane. Maybe I was going down the path of Joan of Arc and had finally snapped.

I had forgotten that the debates were on and that what I was hearing on every block was Barack Obama’s voice booming out of the televisions of houses on every block. It literally sounded like he was speaking to the entire neighborhood.

It made me proud to be part of the twin cities. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I have know idea why i couldn't hear John McCain...selective hearing?

i think my favorite month is September.

-fall leaves
-pumpkin muffins
-soup!
-light coats
-light scarves
-music for the fall mood
-candles to keep warm when it's not quite cool enough for the heat
-halloween
-scary movies
-haunted houses (i'm such a chicken, last year i clutched my husband's sleeve and made him walk ahead of me with my eyes closed. i would open them a smidge every now and then. it was my way of easing my way into the whole haunted house thing (i am a jumpy person without someone in costume jumping out at me)
-fall smells
-halloween crafts with Ari
-Ari's halloween costume
-Dressing up myself (last year was the first time in a long time)
-concerts! (Magnetic Fields, Sisters of Mercy, Woven Hand, Legendary Pink Dots) we won't be able to go to all of them but they are all such good bands for fall.

mmm pumpkin muffins

fun and exciting update

approximately one year ago my boss gave me a potted orchid as a gift. knowing nothing about orchids i continued to water it after the petals fell off, even though I thought it was likely dead.

now, there are green buds! i am so proud of my plant. it's the longest i have kept a plant alive and it is budding. i had almost given up on it. i just noticed that the tips of one side are yellow though so i moved it to my desk for now.

it's only time

ugh to the persnickety girl and procrastinator in me. i'm not sure why anyone would care about this but i'm typing it anyway.

i'm not the type of girl who wanted to grow up and have a "dream wedding" and i'm obsessing about my stupid dress. i don't think i ever thought about marrying anyone or having children for that matter. while other girls played dress up i drew dresses. maybe that's why i have such a hard time finding clothing that i like. i always want what i'm picturing but don't possess the necessary skills to make it happen. i have looked at dresses for this wedding until i thought my eyeballs would fall out. most of the stuff out there is way too white or frilly or expensive. i look sickly in white.

i ended up taking two dresses that i bought inexpensively (on ebay) and cutting one up (for the underskirt since my sewing skills are almost none). i'm going to dye the outer-dress part first (which is currently white) a dark blue-ish green and then dye a vintage slip (that i found at goodwill) a paler greenish color and then wear the underskirt (black) under that. it sounds weird and it might not work out. it's supposed to be very layer-y. if it doesn't work out, i'm going naked. i've had it with myself. this is ridiculous.

i have several necklaces/bracelets that have fallen apart and i'm going to restring them and wear them with my silver bird necklace. it will be somewhat appropriate since we will be in the woods. maybe. the whole green/bird theme or something.

we received our wedding rings...they are simple/inexpensive with an inscription that only makes sense if you put the two rings together. she couldn't fit it all on one so we split it up onto the two. it's from the Magnetic Fields song "It's Only Time". I thought it was fitting since it is bittersweet and the whole reason we met was because of the Magnetic Fields. Three people guessed which sentence on the first try. not sure what to think about that.

i am perfectly capable of organizing an event for 80 people for work yet i feel stunned about a small gathering.

i have this song stuck in my head

Lady Godiva was a freedom rider,
she didn't care of the whole world looked.
Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her,
she was a sister who really cooked.
Isadora was a first bra burner
Aint' ya glad she showed up?
And when the country was falling apart
Betsy Ross got it all sewed up
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's Maude
And then there's that old compromisin, enterprisin' anything but traqulizin' Right on Maude!!!

i was watching The Family Guy the other night and Peter goes beserk because it seems like it takes a long time to get to Maude. that's always bothered me too. sometimes i think i just like that show because i share the same annoyances with whoever writes most of the episodes.
